Bassel is a trainee in obstetrics and gynaecology, started his training in the West Midlands deanery. He has moved to London to undertake a PhD following an academic career path. Through his training he has developed a passion for clinical research as well as medical education. He has worked on a number of research projects in general obstetrics, maternal medicine and benign gynaecology.

He is undergoing a masters degree in medical education with special interest in simulation based learning. Bassel has co-founded a regional research network for obs and gynae trainees in the Midlands region to help trainees to get more involved in clinical research projects. 

Research

Currently working as the research fellow for the ESTEEM trial, working on delivering a diet intervention to improve health outcomes of pregnant women with metabolic risk factors.

Teaching

Bassel is passionate about medical education. He is actively involved in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has delivered a number of multidisciplinary teaching sessions. He is currently working on improving the role of simulation in teaching ultrasound skills in obstetrics and gynaecology.
